Optimizing a price simulation experience
for category managers to enable faster
decision making
I led end-to-end design efforts for this project - Research + Design
the problem.
The pricing team at a CPG company relied on a simulation tool to adjust product prices and analyze their impact on consumer demand. However, the tool’s poor simulator experience limited their ability to run meaningful pricing scenarios effectively, making data-driven decision-making challenging. To address this, the company
partnered with MathCo to audit the tool, identify usability issues, and recommend improvements that would enhance
the scenario simulation experience and drive better business outcomes.
the role.
As a Product Designer, I crafted a research plan, mapped user journey, led user interviews and facilitated discussions to translate user research
findings into actionable strategy. I socialized findings in weekly client meetings and drafted comprehensive
heuristic evaluation report with 50+ areas of recommendations projected to optimize simulation
efficiency by 45%.
the impact.
With the suggested areas of recommendations and the redesign of the simulation, the category managers were able to simulate a successful scenario in 3 iterations on an average as compared to >10 iterations - this allowed faster decision making
